For those who don't know, let Wikipedia educate ya'll: "Feminism is a belief in the right of women to have political, social, and economic equality with men." I've always been up on the feminist frame of mind, more so than most women that I know. Now, I'm not going to theorize or philosophize about the essence of this belief but I'll just briefly remind you of female censorship, women's suffrage, and etc. My temperament of this has been heightened to a new perspective through Women in Hip-Hop. I know I'm a 'noob' to this culture, but just..... damn! These women are the perfect embodiment of feminism through the Hip-Hop culture. WATCH.
Grand Puba Maxwell & Mary J on "Yo! MTV Raps"
Probably my most favourite Hip-Hop/RnB collabo out there thus far.
Didn't think a singer can hold a rap tip like she does huh? Now you know.
"RapCity" feature on The Fugees.
Self-explanitory; the only woman in an influential Hip-Hop group?
Mad Queen status. Although she kills me softly, she defacates on the microphone!
I'll end this post off on the Christmasy spirit brought to you by the legendary TLC.
Miss them as much as I miss the Fugees. To me, they're still crazysexycool. RIP Left-Eye ♥
One word in summary: RESPECT.
